  • The model for this drawing is a young aboriginal woman working at my local fish and chip shop.

    N. has had a pretty challenging life and is a constant reminder of how indigenous people are treated on a daily basis in Australia.

She is quiet, well-spoken, hard working and strong. And yet she frequently gets treated as invisible or subpar by customers.

Right up until the morning of the voting day for the Voice to parliament referendum, I had hope that Australians would unite in helping each other and creating a community where everyone gets a say. Somehow, this didn't happen. N. - like many others - will remain invisible and ignored.
